Hi everyone! We’ve made it to another weekly topic! Can you believe that there are only 50 days left in 2024? I feel like this year just FLEW by.
This week, we want to talk about video games universes. The worlds in which different video games live are usually so captivating. World creation in video game development is crucial for setting the stage of whatever the game is welcoming you to do. Which world, of the video games that you’ve played, was the most captivating to you to the point that you would want to live there? Why? If you were to live in that world, what is the first thing that you would do? Let’s chat about it!!
Despite how much I like Sonic’s universe it’s incredibly dangerous. I’d probably go with something like animal crossing or something. They sound pretty chill besides being in debt to Tom Nook.
Minecraft! Until recently, I haven’t had a computer that can run many of the big 3D titles, but I’ve had Minecraft for a very long time! (Java edition) Minecraft is, of the games I’ve played, 2nd only to the 2 Portal games, which I certainly would absolutely not want to live in! They actually take place in the Half-life universe, so even if I did survive GLaDOS, I still wouldn’t last long after that.
I think I would love living in Minecraft, especially if I could re-spawn of course, though not for long: it’s obviously not as good as irl! I would get very bored of the food, and you can’t even cook eggs! I don’t think I could live without eggs…
I have no idea what type of game I would want to live in because each video game has at least one part in it I would not want to exist, like Minecraft having monsters and Animal Crossing having no video games. I think the only type of video game world I would choose is The Henry Stickman Collection, as you have infinite resources and infinite lives, making you able to possibly get free food depending on what options the game gives you, and you could casually blow things up and then just reset it as if nothing happened
This question got me thinking a lot about the games that I really loved as a kid.
There are some games that I would want to just pop in to live through a specific mission/quest and then yeet on out. For example, the stealth and action training in Secret Agent Barbie would be so fun to go through. Also really loved some of the quests in Barbie Horse Adventures: Mystery Ride. Oh man, I could go on a long tangent about the Barbie games of the early 2000s. One last one for the road: the Barbie Rapunzel game had some really fun mechanics. Okay, I’m done.
Anyywayyyyy the game that I would actually want to live in is the original Club Penguin as a penguin of course. I want to see if that pizza is as good as it looks. I want to know what it feels like to dance as a penguin. I want to surf and avoid obstacles. I want to rise in the ranks of Card Jitsu. I want to crush it at mine cart surfing. And, most of all, I want to hug and play with puffles. I mean, COME ON. They are just too cute.
