A departing message - jdev

I’m leaving makecode, but this topic is for something more specific. For a more detailed reason why, look at the post i made in comings and goings.

this message is mainly directed for people who have been using the forums for at least 1 year but you can still read it if you want

i feel like this community isn’t the same as it used to be.

whether or not it’s changed for the better or worse is up to you to decide, but it’s definitely worth noting.

I’ve been seeing less and less games with actual effort put into them.

Remember. This is coming from the man with 26 unfinished projects and 16 bad games.

I don’t want the people in this community to become who I am.

This is exactly why I’ve made this topic instead of posting it in a different topic. It needs to be discussed a bit further, and I just want to give my perspective before I leave.

This community is incredibly talented, I’ve said this countless times. So it really breaks my heart to see that there have been less games recently. All there is now are unfinished collaborations and devlogs.

Unfortunately, this community is becoming who I am.

And I’m going to say this right here, I am absolutely pathetic.

Can’t even finish a project, always procrastinating, no dedication.

“oh this game isn’t even going to take off” is probably what some of you think whenever I release a topic, and that’s completely correct. It never does.

Never. And I mean NEVER be who I am today.

Don’t pressure yourself with deadlines and due dates, and take thinks slow, one step at a time.

I don’t really know what to put here anymore because I’m still jetlagged but I just want to tell you all to never lose your spark.

Don’t be me.

Don’t make empty promises.

You WILL regret it.

also- guys- please be on topic and stop spamming things in topics its really disruptive.

well, this may seem like a lame sign off, but-

Stay classy, Makecode.

awwww, @_jupiter, it’s sad to see you go. :slightly_frowning_face:

I would say that’s pretty good advice. Especially with some games I make. I start a lot of good games, get to a very tedious part in it and just quit. I try to avoid posting about making games too, typically because This happens a lot. But when I made one of my best games, torment — I got it completed and was very satisfied. It had lots of good art and animations that I am proud of. (Although the game did have a one month deadline)

Uhg, I hate it when I do that. It gives me a bad feeling. I think almost everybody has done something like this before, especially on a game topic. I always end up regretting it too.

I feel that sometimes… But then I get it back. Sometimes I think it takes inspiration like art. That’s where my spark comes from.

Its sad to see you go even if we haven’t spoken much, but I wish you luck in your future.

You are not pathetic!!!

You are one of my favorite people on the forums and I hate to see you go. I also procrastinate, and lose inspiration, and never finish any projects, and I know it sucks, and I need to get better. But that doesn’t mean you are pathetic! I’m not that good with words I don’t know what else to say, but uh… [sends you reassurances]
