I can't take it anymore

Let’s just get to the point. I can’t take this anymore. Makecode arcade is just broken (With all due respect to the Mods, It takes serious dedication to make a game engine.) and I’ve lost my progress on Both of these games due to Makecode’s random CORRUPTIONS & CRASHES. I lost progress on Duelio not once…not Twice…but THREE TIMES.

Right now I’m not feeling it with the Makecode editor. It’s limiting, Bug infested, and overall unstable. Don’t get the wrong idea, I am a professional & known user here but…I just can’t take the crashing and random corruptions anymore…I’m just afraid that one day…I’ll lose my Mona Lisa, Pixel Smash, to a random Makecode corruption.

The forum hasn’t exactly been doing well either. Many veterans and trusted users are either burnt out or just with leaving with little to no warning. as personalnote & Brohann have stated, this forum generation isn’t really about Coding and the majority of the newer users are using this site like it’s just a smaller Instagram or twitter. I want to see GAMES. GOOD Games that had EFFORT put into them. Or MASSIVE COLLABS. It seems many users have forgotten what this site is about. I’m not saying don’t make friends. I’m saying…Try Staying on topic.

This post doesn’t have a happy ending. I really don’t want to do this on the week of my second anniversary on the forum but:

I’m likely going to leave this site and use an engine like Unity, or Gamemaker studio 2 sooner or later.

(I haven’t officially decided yet but I haven’t been feeling it with Makecode at the moment. I’ll still be Forum active but my presence would be minimal.)

If I do leave soon then, let me say thank you to my top respected users:

  • @randomuser for just being the nicest user possible. Your kindness really helped me alot during the 2 years I was here.

  • @Sarge Providing the best advice possible and helping me improve my games, while still making posts I can laugh at.

  • @AbstractDesigner For just being a user I can relate to. art, game design and GD.

  • @UnsignedArduino For just being an inspiration. In 6th grade I played your time jam submission and that’s when I really got into Makecode game design.

  • @danger_kitty For also being a MAJOR inspiration. Your games really helped me get through middle school. (specifically 6th grade.)

  • @Blobbey You and Randomuser are the most supportive people on the site. Hands down.

  • @DangerNoodle I still chuckle to myself When I read some of your posts. Even though you said you don’t really make games, you stick around. I respect that.

  • @Unique You gave me the opportunity to compete in your competitions. I’m thankful for that.

  • @personalnote Back then, your games used to be some of the most intriguing projects I’ve ever seen. They are still impressive to.

  • @TheConeGuy Awesome game dev, Awesome pixel artist, And great person to see on the site.

  • Well. See ya.

This happens to me all the time, too… I hate it when Makecode decides to ruin my day and delete all of my hard work :frowning:

GUYS WE NEED TO START OGRIZING THE FORUM.
we need to keep this place a clean and safe place that’s easy to use.
as for random corruptions I have found a easy way to avoid that you just have to save locally frequently witch allows you to go back to a uncorrupted verson as well.

Use the GitHub integration and/or download PNGs of your games frequently. Cloud save is cool but GitHub allows you to go back in time. Plus it’s a separate platform so even if your current save corrupts, (which rarely happened to me) you can just reload it from GitHub or your PNG.

I’m honored you think of this way!

We will miss you if you leave. If you do, see ya! I hope we meet again someday, whether back on these forums or not.

It’s the sad reality, but sometimes you can’t do much when it comes to things like this. :frowning:
Concerning the forum situation, I think that’s been stated many times before in similar posts, it’s not great. I don’t want to go. I want the forum to stay, it’s such an important place to me. However, whatever your future vetures may be, in case you decide to leave either way, I wish you all the best

Thank you for being here and making the forum a better place…

Please buddy, just wait a bit, I swear it will make a comeback
and I can’t lose my #1 frenemy rival! You’ve been so great to me over the years, thank you for your kind words. Maybe hold out and get those games finished.. and back them up on a hard drive. Or google drive, for that matter!

I get it, sometimes I get so mad at makecode for randomly deleting assets/code. One way to fix this is to make backups every time you do anything significant. I also make copies/saves whenever I feel the looming threat of deletion (basically all the time)

Hey im still really new to this community. I hope im not part of the problem
The only sad thing i see here is we won’t have your expertise and personality making the forum a better place as much. other than that I’m happy for you for taking your code to the next level with things like Unity or Gamemaker. Makecode will never be the final stepping stone for anyone’s career in code it’s only the beginning. hopefully, this is a new beginning for you have a wonderful day and I hope you never stop doing what you love.

One time I accidently deleted my tower defense that WAS REALLY GOOD and took me a month to do. I cried a lot. Nonetheless, I will. EVER, forget about you or your works.

I appreciate all that you’ve done for this platform. You’ve made your mark, and that’s all that counts. I wish you nothing but the absolute best outside of MakeCode.

This is all hurting me too much. If @PIXELDOODLE HIMSELF leaves, it would feel like I would’ve lost a kidney.

 You are such a great coder, and you’ve made such a great impact on this community! It’s so sad that you might be leaving. I’m glad that I was able to support you (and get inspiration from you) during my time on the forum, and I hope that all of your future coding ventures are successful and fulfilling!
