A platformer in which you BOUNCE

I made a platformer inspired by the game jam version of Celeste. In this game you can jump like most games but you find an orb that gives you the power to bounce! It is quite hard (like Celeste) but also fun, eventually a few more mechanics are introduced, and I even added a secret and a skip if you can find them (though I would recommend waiting until having beaten the game once before trying to find them). I haven’t done the last section of the map yet but otherwise it is quite complete, so have fun trying it out! Extra tip if you are struggling with the main mechanic: when doing the bounce, make sure you are already holding down and jumping before pressing B, or else it may not register. Here it is: Bouncer

The final course is really hard I died 5000 times on that part pls nerf it
(I’m joking that was the easiest part of the game)
Really cool concept for a game.

to climb walls, you do left/right + b, but that move also launches you to the side until you hit something. do a right+b there

Thank you so much!

Got a time of 4 mins, 32 seconds

New Best Time

Cool to see people trying and liking my game! : ) Have any of you found the secret yet? I know AGuyThatsBored found the skip but there is another secret I’ve put in the game. If you really can’t find it then you can look in the tilemap code. Also, I’m around halfway through making the final course; it’s by far the hardest part of the game.

1 minute 1 second (aka 61 seconds)!! if you question that score, know that I finished Celeste 9a (the hardest level, requires 8c beaten), got moon berry, 1a dashless, about 8 other golden berries

All that’s left to finish the update is visual polish and coding the final cutscene! This update will altogether add an always showing timer, a title screen, and most importantly: the final course, which will be extremely hard (at least compared to the rest of the game) and will contain a secret within it. There is also a small change to the player sprite just so that the gameplay will feel slightly more fair, but it’s a small difference. I’ll finish it tomorrow, but I need to go to bed.

Yup! Theres also a part that says “hi”.

Here is the final game (at least for now)! Tell me if you guys have any feedback. The changelog:

The final course, the main part of this update, and is very difficult, especially compared to the rest of the game,

A title screen,

A constant timer rather than only showing at the end,

Very slightly shrinking the player sprite so that dying seems more fair,

Pluey,

Another secret (in the final course),

Swapping the crown with a trophy, unless you manage to get through without dying even once,

And the ability to press Up+A+B to check controls at any point in case you forgot exactly how a move works, but don’t want to restart the entire game just to have the character explain the controls again.

I hope you guys enjoy it!

This is really cool! the controls feel amazing and the final course is fun! however, how do you get past this point?

Happy to see you enjoying my game. You need to downbounce, then sidebounce into the orb and hold right until you get to the far-right platform, then do a downbounce and time a sidebounce so it hits a platform further right (not in the picture) that will lead to the checkpoint. Hope this helps so you can potentially beat the game!

Yeah I give up.

How are you supposed to get past THIS jump?

You need to jump to the left, then sidebounce to the left once you get past the orbs. It’s hard, but I think you can do it!

I did it :󠇪D
