Yeah, the middle finger is a representation of profanity, and should be counted as equally as using symbols to cover up swears!
i think this is a good idea since I think this is more fitting for my button chaos game
We could make a separate category for deeper / darker topics? eg. alcohol like you named. Although idk if something like that is even allowed on the forums
how about use text not emojis because its a health problem for some people that has epilepsy
would replacements for swear words count like heck or dang? I don’t think they’re that bad for the profanity warning but idk.
Hmm. I’m a little confused here- Epilepsy is known to be a neurological condition that causes seizures. According to the epilepsy foundations lists of common triggers, emojis are not listed- the closest I could find was patterns, but with emojis being so small, you would have to spam a lot of emojis to get it to be a pattern.
Honestly its mostly up to the poster what is and what isnt profanity, in my opinion those do not represent any bad words (that i know of)
what about skull for death, I mean I don’t really know if it would be that bad but I dont mean like mario jumping on goombas death I mean like dying from like a sword or something.
According to @Blobbey it probably would… but I’m fine with them excepted, it depends on the decision of the others
I think heck, dang and words of that sort are fine and don’t count as swear replacers for the profanity warning.
i mean dont do emojis for flashing light but do text instead for flashing lights because some newbie people will not know of the emojis
We can redirect them to this thread
I understand what you meant the first time, but I was away so I couldn’t give a complete response. This is actually a great questions, what about new users that don’t know about the labels? What if they have photosensitivity and they don’t understand what the label means so they play anyway?
Well, I’ve sort of come up with a final solution. Instead of writing the label above the post on its own, we can quote a part of the previous post that includes these labels. For example:
< and the rest of the post comes here >
Since the previous label descriptions are not very descriptive, I’m going to list them here again. Make sure to quote them at the top of your post if your game is sensitive, or if it’s suitable for all.
Sensitive content
- This game contains blood!
- This game contains violence!
- This game contains guns!
- This game contains profanity!
- This game contains horror!
- This game contains flashing lights!
Age ratings
- this game is suitable for all ages (no violations)
- this game is suitable for ages 13+ (minor violations, slightly sensitive)
- this game is suitable for ages 15+ (multiple violation, highly sensitive)
In your posts, you can either quote this post (highlight the line you want to quote and press ‘quote’) or use a blockquote (eg. > :gun: - This game contains guns!
)
Wait guys what about some ratings like for example:
If your making a chat room for your game, maybe there should be a warning like:
Unmoderated Chat
noice! thanks for all your help and contribution @Sarge !
ok thank you because i have epilepsy
Not sure how common that kind of content would be, but it’s good to have all bases covered, so we could add it! I’ll get around to updating the google doc and I might post an announcement about it in the thread these days
I made this post because radio chats exist.
Hey everyone, it’s been a while until my last post about this subject. Rest assured, I still care about the project and I have plans to make it even bigger. For now, I’ve registered a simple link shortener to have a quick reference to the Google doc.

This will come in handy soon, but all in due time
As of now, Makecode online chats do not exist
