[Announcement] MakeCode Arcade Mini Game Jam #33 - Big Jam!

Hey folks!

It’s time for a mini game jam! I mean, a big game jam! Or, wait… uh… a big mini game jam? Look, the theme for this mini game jam is Big Things, you get what I mean!

That’s right! Consider this the sequel to tiny jam cause we’re looking for games that embody the concept of Bigness! That could mean a game with big sprites, or a big screen, or maybe just big ideas… It’s up to you!

Some examples of good interpretations of this theme:

As always, you can interpret this however you want so long as it’s obvious how your game relates to the theme.

Rules

  1. Games should be built in MakeCode Arcade
  2. Games should clearly adhere to the theme without the need for any extra explanation
  3. Keep the games PG: no NSFW, offensive, or excessively violent content.
  4. You must be at least 9 years old to participate.
  5. All games must be submitted by someone who is at least 13 years old. Younger students are welcome to participate, but it must be in partnership with an adult and with parent permission.

You have until the last Friday of the month to enter! That means get your games in before Friday, February 26th! As always, we’ll be playing all of the entrants on livestream at 1:00 PM PT on that Friday

Despite having a ton of school projects, I’m gonna try and make a game for this jam because I haven’t been in a jam for a while now.

This theme reminds me of the game EXO One. It was finally ported to Steam and I was in love for like a week. Basically you are a sphere and left clicking increases your gravity, so you use gravity to roll around massive terrain filled worlds. There is a demo on steam. Idk how I would make a Makecode game out of that idea, but just putting it out there as another inspiration.
