[Announcement] MakeCode Arcade Mini Game Jam #38 - Puzzle Jam Part Two!

Hey folks!

Wait what? It’s not the first Monday of the month! Why is this announcement happening now? Well, it’s because this week started on August 31st and I didn’t want everyone to lose a week of primo game making time so please enjoy your slightly early game jam announcement!

This month, our theme comes to us courtesy of @calebsd who suggested we do Puzzle Jam Part Two! I thought this was a very good idea since that theme was thirty mini game jams ago. Also, I just like puzzle games!

So what makes a puzzle game? Well, this is easily one of the broadest genres that we could give as a prompt. As long as your game has problems that the player needs to solve by thinking, you’re probably covered. But let’s look at some classic examples:

Need more inspiration? Check out the submissions for part one!

Rules

  1. Games should be built in MakeCode Arcade
  2. Games should clearly adhere to the theme without the need for any extra explanation
  3. Keep the games PG: no NSFW, offensive, or excessively violent content.
  4. You must be at least 9 years old to participate.
  5. All games must be submitted by someone who is at least 13 years old. Younger students are welcome to participate, but it must be in partnership with an adult and with parent permission.

You have until the last Friday of the month to enter! The jam will close at 11:59 PM PDT on Thursday, September 24th 2026. As always, we will be playing all of the submitted games on our livestream on the last Friday of the month.

Submit your games by posting them in this thread!

Oh boy … you’ve given me a reason to finish one of the projects that’s been sitting on a back burner. The single-player version has been done for a while, but the multiplayer version would be much better for the stream … and I’ve been wanting to write it for much too long.

For those of you who have been playing at home (pun intended) and figure out which project this is, you’ll get a shoutout in the finished product.

Yeah, I know, that was the reason I had the ‘please don’t cheat’ at the start, but, trying to fix, it, I realised that would be really hard. But, if you REALLY want to, you can fix it.
