Rate the intro cutscene
hmm that’s actually quite good
I’d say 4/5, the artstyle is great but the red goblin thing is really slo- HOLD ON WHAT WAS THAT AXE SPIN ANIMATION!? ![]()
5/5, the artstyle here is really retro and eerie and I’m so impressed (even jealous) of how you rotate the characters and objects in 3D space so well! The impact frame and beam both look amazing, I think some music could emphasize that impact even more. My only suggestion is to make the red thing more intimidating, either by having some reason the person isn’t running away, make it faster, or have a full chase.
If this is just the opening cutscene, i’m super excited to see how the whole game turns out!!!
Pretty good, 7/10!
lovely art and animation the sprites are very cool. Feels very shovel knight esque (in a very good way!!) Try to add some cool parallax to the bg
10000000million out of 10!!! my dude THAT WAS SICK!
9/10. also… Axe of Justice… gives me Spear of Justice/Hammer of Justice vibes…
This is actually really cool, 8/10.
Really cool!… thou the red goblin is kinda slow but the spinning axe is amazing!
My oh my, is that not a nice intro cutscene that you got over there. The animations and character sprites themselves are top-notch for something built in MakeCode pixel art. The way you conveyed fear and emotion with the old man when the demon was approaching him was very well done, with his body just shaking constantly, simple yet effective.
My favourite parts of this entire cutscene were the axe-slash impact frame that bisected the demon trying to attack the poor old man, and that part when the hero is revealed catching his spinning axe in the air (he threw it like a boomerang, I can see).
(also just look at this guy, casually aurafarming after murdering a demonic creature)
Honestly, if there is one nitpick that I have about this entire intro sequence, it would be how the demon is revealed at the very start. The old man just turns around once, gets shocked by something off-camera (builds up anticipation in the audience), and then the demon just instantaneously teleports into the tilemap. It is quite abrupt, and I think that I would have preferred to see the demon slowly walking into the camera’s view rather than just appearing out of thin air.
(shocked old man)
Overall, I would put this cutscene at a grand 9/10 rating. Keep on going with this project that you’re working on!
So cool! 9/10
