Blades of Eternity ⚔ - Devlog

Hey Guys! BlueYoshi here!

When I first started working on MakeCode Arcade, I had ideas for an RPG. Now, after all this time, my RPG Blades of Eternity is finally coming!

These will be one of my biggest games I made in my life, and I wanted to give it all what I know!

This game is about Ginza, a samurai who will stop Akuryo from destroying the universe with the Time Stone. On his way, he will meet many pals who’ll help him in the adventure!

I hope you all love this project as much as I do! And I hope many people can see and enjoy my game I made w/ love!

Soo.. what do u think?

  • I LOVE IT!!! :star_struck::partying_face:
  • Hey! That’s pretty good! :+1:

If there are any glitches or errors, pls tell me immediately :+1:! I will do my best to finish this game.

i got stuck here on the first playthrough (problem with overlapping code maybe??)

Then i got a system error when trying to view my items on the second one
I think adding a savestate after the opening dialogue would be good just so that you don’t have to rewatch the opening custcene every time (this is also helpful if yr bugfixing)

on the third playthough, I got stuck selecting the item. This happened after i pressed A on the item (none of the controls were inputting any visible action afterwards)
btw i love the attacking for the player and enemy, super nice when you go the extra mile with the sfx, swipe animation and movement. timing is well put together too for satisfying yet snappy gameplay. The whole vibe is really polished, especially with the varied music and sfx for selection on the menus. I would just try and develop each track a bit more, especially the ones which loop many times (ie battle and passive themes) since those can get a bit repetative.

on the 4th run i got stuck when i experimented with the run button (im guessing that wasn’t supposed to be used lmao)

on the 5th run, i tried out the final button and got another system error

and on the 6th run i got to the end!! im loving these cutscenes, the story is pretty good! however a pretty major plothole is that i only killed one slime, isn’t there 2 more?!?
I think you got the retro feel down very nicely too, very cool style especially with the red background and general colour use. I would just try to clean up the player sprite and fix the anti aliasing on the slime.

and on the 7th run i wrote a conclusion:
very good game, very good polish, very good effort, and i can see this becoming a great game!
