Even though there are bugs and this is still unfinished, this is amongst the better Mario remakes that I have taken a look at on these forums. Judging by the design of the Mario sprite, Boom Boom sprite, the animations, along with all the other assets, the game does seem like a faithful recreation of retro Mario games, and “retro game” is kind of the language that MakeCode Arcade works the best in.
One irking thing (besides the bugs in animations, which unfortunately I can’t really find a solution to) that I had was with the first room, with all the collapsing pillars, the screen-shaking effect while the pillar is going down into the void is a tad bit too intense; it would honestly be pretty good if you were to level down the camera shake by 1 or 2 additional pixels, that way the player is still given the proper immersion that a pillar is crumbling down by Mario’s weight, while the effect still doesn’t manage to distract you as much (until the shaking permanently stops) from the rest of the platformer.
Also, honestly, while the boss fight is very well designed with Boom Boom having multiple phases, I would say that the intermission is a bit long, like when you land on Boom Boom’s head the first time, he remains in his defensive shell form for like almost 10 seconds before he gets up and gains wings to divebomb Mario. I would say that, at the current moment, the wait is way too long. If we are going to keep that part, how about a special mechanic where Boom Boom jst hops around the boss round for the next couple of seconds?

Those tangents aside, I would say that, with some fine dedication, this game has serious potential to be one of the best Boss Rushes to ever be built on MakeCode. Keep up your efforts!

I wasn’t sure about the screen shake either tbh, will likely tone it down or just remove it all together in the next patch new demo coming soon tho fixed most of the animation errors tho just boom boom looks a bit awkward in the way he moves in the first part of phase 3, I’m going to continue to keep working away at it
