While Thinking of a way to solve a thing in a test game my mind wandered off to thinking how high can you count with your Fingers and I put a lot of thought into it, so here’s what I got
Rules I went by
1 Just your hands
2 No using stuff like markers
3 This rule is hard to explain but I will try my best, Whatever you use to count you also be able to use it to count backwards to 0 by 1’s
And a 4 rule is that a human can count / measure it without needing tools like a protractor
Normally
Most people have 10 Fingers and thus 10’s the limit right?
Hmmm… what if I told you that you can count up to 30 using a little trick, start by counting up to 5 with one hand, then hold up 1 Finger in your other hand and put down all your Fingers in your 1st hand, next start counting up normally with your 1st hand but once your at 10 hold up an 2nd Finger in your 2nd hand and put down all the Fingers in your 1st hand and repeat until all of your Fingers are up in your 2nd hand then count up until your 1st hand is full at that point your done with a value of 30 and you can count backwards with this once your at 25 put down one Finger in your 2nd hand and put up 4 in your 1st for 24 and so one until you at 0
Deeper Still
There’s also a way to get 55 with just your Fingers but this one’s a mess to explain and I’m not sure if it counts but I tell you anyway 1st start counting up to 9 with your Fingers Normally and once you get to 10 put down all Fingers down except for 1 in your 2nd hand then count up to 18 once you reach 19 put down all of your fingers down except for 2… you can see where this is going so lets skip to when your 2nd hand’s full (which is 37 I think?) count up to 38 and once you get to 39 put down all your Fingers in your 1st hand but one Finger… you can also see where this goes so let me tell you the problem it is counting backwards you can use what I told you to count backwards but it can get confusing fast so lets move on
Going Deeper
There is a way to count up to 24 by using your Finger Segments instead of just using your Fingers what you want to do is use your thumb to count each Finger Segment going from Top to Right or Top to Left
But by using this and the 30 Finger Trick you can go up to 156 bear with me while I tell you this 1st start counting up to 11 with your 1st hand once you get to 12 count 1 with your 2nd hand and start from 0 with your other… Do I need to say it? once you get 12 with your 2nd hand count up to 12 with your 1st hand, once your at 12 with your 1st hand your done at 156
And yes you can do the 55 Finger Trick with Finger Segments too which would be 300 but I don’t feel like writing another thing that might not even be allowed based off my rules
Where I Stopped
Well I have two more things to increase the number one is by holding fingers half way once I counted them making just the 24 Finger Trick with this from 24 to 48
And the 2nd is to count around the Finger Segment getting me 4 for each Finger Segment instead of 1 make it a max of 96 with 24 Finger Trick
So what if we these two with the 30 Finger Trick well… you get a max amount of 9702 (If I did my math right) and you go so much bigger like if you could find a way to use the 55 Finger Trick instead of the 30 Finger Trick you get 192+191+190…+3+2+1 which I don’t want to type in a Calculator so I look up how to do this type of thing on Google and got 18528 though this may be off but in any case I’m stopping here
