Doing what?
I’m just replying.
How did you do that little citation thing that hid a message, I’ve never seen that
Ive returned, i had lost my password and just found it today
@Hulahoop don’t let anyone bring you down! You always have a place here, even if you didn’t make any game yet.
Do this in your reply box:
^[Hello World!]
If done correctly you should get this:
You can put anything inside the brackets (if mods allow it of course)
Hello World! ↩︎
This is my official statement about me leaving the Microsoft MakeCode Forums.
I am leaving.
Not for good (hopefully), but this place changed in a way I don’t really like.
Things have gotten worse. There isn’t much of (if at all) a sense of community.
This place has become the one thing we tried so hard to protect it from for many years.
I joined thinking I knew way more about this place than I did. (You can tell by looking back at some of my first topics.)
I was once a part of the problem. Then I started knowing more, doing more, and becoming as involved as I could. That would come back to bite me today.
I care so much about this place. Without these forums I would not have gotten to where I am today. Which is why is pains me to say this, but don’t expect me back for a while.
This place HAS become a social media. I see more Chatting Area posts a day than I do all other posts together.
I am leaving and before I go, I want to depart some wisdom onto you.
Lao Tzu said that “Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them—that only creates sorrow.”, and yeah, they did. Trying to get things to go back to the way they were was a huge mistake. I spent many nights getting no sleep trying to think of a way to fix this place, but in the end I couldn’t. So, I say don’t force the change let it happen, and when the time comes this place will work itself out.
If you are willing to do one thing for me, I ask that you look back at a post from 2019-2021 and really think about what the community was like, how strongly you would feel with those people if you were here when that time was.
I want you to compare this place now to the true sense of community we had back then. It was like a neighborhood. You know that one guy next door who you could always count on, that woman a few houses down who would do everything she could to help you, those parents that would all come together to do everything they could for their children (no matter how silly).
The forums at least to me seemed like that. In a way it was that, and even though we may never get to have that again I’m glad to have been here.
Thank you all for helping me on this journey. Each and every person here I will forever be thankful for.
I am and will always be honored to be a MakeCoder.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! ![]()
I see. Competition on who writes more when they leave I see. When I leave again I’ll make sure to write a whole essay or 2. Gimme ideas guys for my next leave
Sad to see you go, even if I haven’t had much to do with you. I agree with everything you said; the forum has become a form of social media for many. I remember when I was active here and things were getting worse we had just hit 3k posts in chatting area. Now I am back, 6k. 6 months for 3k messages.
I hope you find another community you can love dearly ![]()
It’s so sad too that the forums has become like this. not only are their other media platforms that can be used to chat but there’s multiple Reddit Servers or Discord Servers Dedicated to Makecode. I’m sad that your leaving (for now I assume) but all in all, your reason is fair.
So long, brother ![]()
Goodbye @RobbyZero. I know we haven’t interacted much, but I thought you were a pretty good user.
I think when I first joined, I was probably a part of the problem. But I think that I have become a better user now. It’s sad to see a user leave, and I want to wish you luck where life finds you.
I would say that the reason chatting area is more popular is because a creativity deficit, nobody has good ideas that can be done in Makecode
Another front-liner has fallen. I wasn’t here for the time you mentioned, but I get it. I remember that one time when I read the entire chatting area in half an hour. Can’t do that now. I also felt the comraderry of the forums. Not so much anymore.
BUT BY GOD THE FORUMS ARE NOT DYING! Tis simply the rise of a new age.
Goodbye boss…
Channel 0 will be in good hands. (Right Josef and Jupiter?)
teleportation sound effect
Guess who’s back, back again…
…Sarge is back, say amen
jokes aside im really glad to see some of my favorite forum members, back from when I first joined the forums return!
and when the world needed him the most
