Gameplay you can’t predict in your first few attempts.
ouch… me personally I feel that one kinda gone a bit to far for criticsm but then thats me talking.
He is right, but I think maybe the constructiveness has been a bit overdone-
Though on PixelDoodles point, multiple times has he told Taser what’s wrong, yet still finds them in his levels, so I’d say a bit deserving-
One compliment I will give you @Taser is you’re getting better at structuring levels. It’s just the gameplay that needs work.
finallyyyyyyy i beat millenial
noice.
Accidentally abandoned this post, and I just realized I never got a 0/10 from @PixelDoodle , yipeee.
I am going to try to shoot for the top score however, I’ll begin working on a new level.
That’s a pretty optimistic way of looking at things!
I want to try making a level! Where’s the link?
its time for @PixelDoodle GD-Cologne mode to return.
New Demon Level: FUTURE!
I tried to take in all feedback @PixelDoodle gave. I feel like I met quite a decent amount of them.
(NOTE: Not a ton of ariel portal spam, but its already a tradition of mine at this point)
GD Cologne mode returns indeed.
FUTURE
Status: Not Beaten
Rating: 3/10
Contains: Unclear Shifts, Unbalanced gameplay, Puzzles with not visual indication, Randomly placed objects, Invisible objects.
Feedback: From what I’ve seen so far, this level is Nowhere near the worst you’ve made, But nowhere near the best. There’s almost no visual indication of walls or spikes. The randomly placed objects are also annoying as well. Everything else is unclear.
To guide you, I guess I’ll make a DEMO LEVEL of what you’re supposed to do.
@Taser, This is what a demon level with good gameplay would look like (In my opinion)
Take notes of what I did in this level.
Definitely a good level, but the problem is that it begins to feel like an insane after a while, and an aspect of @Taser’s design can really make the level feel difficult (by adding his spike design, it makes the level better). One BIG problem is the need to make things precise. Sure, the level is nice, but you want to make it demon, so a need to make things precise can usually ruin it. Now, of course, this was (mostly) balanced well, but the level can really benefit from memory parts, rather than precise timing. This is because you want players to develop in the level. Error helps the player learn. But when you and Taser make things too precise, it all feels like Bloodbath, it’s not learning and adapting, it’s only timing. Nonetheless, this level is like an 8/10, compared to Taser’s 3-4/10. If you both try building demon levels in GD (unless you have), balancing variety is just as important and balancing clear indications. Nice level though ![]()
@Taser, Since I have some spare time, I decided to rework some of your levels. Remember, don’t take this the wrong way.
In this version I reworked Millennial, Earthquakes, Stuntman, Nightfall, Hollow & Retro. I overall made these levels clearer & more sight readable while balancing out some parts and. Now, whenever I criticize one of your levels, If I have time and I see somethings I could improve, I’ll prove a FIXED VERSION of it.
I’ll drop another reworked version soon.
Oh ho. Looks like the criticizer has been criticized.
Your advice is on point but, let me counter some of your points.
I was trying to make an EASY DEMON. One that’s pretty basic too. If you play levels like SPEED RACER you’ll see that the gameplay kinda matches the difficulty.
Enter, THE HYPERSHIFT PORTAL. The red arrow thing. Its supposed to be the SPIDER GAMEMODE, which makes clicks precise. That’s what the level is built around. And, I’m not a big fan of memory parts so i tend to avoid adding them.
Other than that im actually kinda glad someone looked at the flaws in my level instead of keeping silent!
that is wild.
Ohhhh. Okay THAT makes sense. Oops! And then again, you put rlly good elements for a basic demon level. I commend that!
Okay, now THAT makes even MORE sense. Precision is nice, and I can see now how the addition of memory was a bit forgotten, but even though the idea of the level was spider, you may want to incorporate a little bit of memory. Now, with the spider portal, that does clear up about it being precise, but it would be better maybe a bit of memory, INCORPORATING precise jumps, could be beneficial. Not required, obviously, your level is GOLDEN as it is. But thanks for explaining! ![]()
uhh… Speed Racer is a pretty old demon, and I don’t think the community would welcome its gameplay if it was released in 2024…
where’s my link ![]()
It’s not the gameplay. It’s the difficulty.
