I love this game! the pixel art is charming and i love the battle system! Here’s some feedback that i gathered from playing the game. The movement can feel janky at times, and would really benefit from coyote jumps. The same with the dash, that doesn’t activate if you’re not moving in a specific directon. Also, after you fight an enemy, once you finish the battle, you go all the way back the start of the level, which means if you can’t dodge the enemy, which can be difficult at some times. If you made it so that you were exactly where you were when you engaged in the fight after you win a battle. Sorry for the long paragraph. You don’t have to listen to the feedback, i might just be bad at the game

@CodePerson thank you for the feedback, but, i feel like you’re misunderstanding some stuff or just arent explaining it well enough

  • define janky
  • im definitely going to add coyote time at some point, hell, i think @BotWarrior suggested it at some point?

If you mean you HAVE to hold the right or left buttons to use a dash…no? You can just jump then press A and youll dash in the direction youre facing, even if none of those buttons have been pressed

Screen_Recording_20250809_214528_Chrome(1)

(The game automatically faces you to the right when you first boot it up btw)

im sorry but that’s just…*no*. You respawn on top of the LAST ground tile you touch.

Screenshots of the code

Collision with an enemy on the ground:

  • Start of battle: Saves your position

Respawn2

  • End of battle: Places you on top of said position

Respawn3

  • Collison with an enemy in midair

If you can move and are touch the ground, the game saves your current ground position

At the end of a battle, if youre not touching the ground, the game will place you at your last ground save point (basically a fail safe in case the first option respawns you in midair)

Respawn4

The only way i think what you said could happen is if you were to dash into an enemy midair at the start of a map and respawn at the beginning

oh, that makes sense. That was mostly how i was when i fought enemies.

Yep! I sometimes don’t want to fight each enemy, so I try to skip past them. This can be very hard though, as most of the time you cannot avoid them. It just sometimes takes more time than I want. (This is not really feedback for you, I just don’t have much patience in general )
