I admire this community. It’s a hidden gem, to be honest. And not a single forum on the internet is anything close to how kind and helpful this forum can be.
I’m stepping back from the MakeCode engine entirely, including the forums. The engine has allowed me to bring so many ideas into reality, and I’m very thankful for that.
As to my reasoning, to keep it concise—I lost interest. The engine isn’t the most optimized, so large projects aren’t fun to make after a while (since the entire workspace becomes slow, beyond usability after a couple hundred blocks), and the forums aren’t fun to be on anymore, which kind of sucks. And all of that has weakened my passion for developing games, as a whole.
I announced the continuation of Unique-A-Thon last year. But at this point, that isn’t going to happen. Correct me if I’m wrong but collaborations are essentially dead here, and I (along with most of y’all, let’s be real) completely forgot that CK3 is still going on anyways, there’s no reason to make another competition.
So that’s it, it was a fun ride everyone. I wish you the best in everything you do, MakeCode or not. Thanks to all the mods and employees that make MakeCode possible, to Microsoft, and to all of you. Farewell, y’all .
Fair point. I’ve been a lot less active too regarding actually programming games (mainly Coneguy 64,) and I’ve been considering moving on to other game engines as well.
I probably could have worded this response differently, but I wish you the best of luck!
I’ll probably move on to Godot once I’m done with MakeCode
I won’t be leaving the forums most likely, but I won’t be making games anymore
(Not in MakeCode anyway, I’m still very much going to make games)
I forgot to thank everyone who took the time and effort to participate in the Unique-A-Thons. You guys are true warriors. And I’m glad I helped bring some of the world’s most talented MakeCoders together to showcase their best work.
Although some of the games weren’t masterpieces, I believe the best games are the ones whose creators create them with hard work, passion, and a love for not just making games but making great ones.
Honestly, out of all the users, I saw this post coming! To put it in your poetic style, “The flame that burns twice as light burns half as long.” - Lao Tzu.
You’ve been an inspiration for so so many, and I wouldn’t be where I am now without you! But, while your projects are extensive and stunning, they take a lot of time and effort that is probably less available as you get older and have more responsibilities like school and work and stuff. It was inevitable you needed either a break or an upgrade!
While the forums won’t be the same without you, your presense will still be felt : )
