Cool mech ideas! Maybe I’ll add them in the second update (when I make it lol)
As for the world ideas, I already have a story set in stone, but maybe I could make a section for fan made worlds.

Will you update Solaris afterward? I know plenty of people (yes i spread the word about your game) who love this game and can’t wait for the new release.

Yeah both will be updated during early summer when I have loads of time, but for now making games isn’t a top priority.

Hey @Octodemon !
Are you still active? I’m running a poll on possible games to publish on steam, and Magnate appears to be high on the list, but to move on with a decision I want to hear from the developers on their opinions about the concept first.

Hey! I’m still around just busy with other things at the moment. I plan on updating Magnate soon once I have a lot of free time. I’m completely fine with Magnate being released on steam, I just have to find time to update it first.

Hey everyone I know it’s been almost a whole year since I updated this game and I wanted to say I’m sorry for not providing any content in the past few months. I haven’t felt too motivated to code and when I did I would go on two week phases and just become demotivated again. I took a large step away from coding but now I’m back. Those of you that have followed Magnate since it released I thank you all a lot and those of you who are just finding this topic I hope you find the game enjoyable too. I just wanted to say I’m finally back and I’m going to try and update Magnate as soon as possible. Right now I realized I accidentally updated the share link, so you could say the next update I had planned was released “early” but it’s really broken and bug ridden. So I plan on for early releasing the update as soon as I can so you all can go back to enjoying Magnate again. Working on this game has truly been fun along with seeing how many people enjoyed this game as much as me. It’s really hard updating huge game when I’m just one person and I’m so grateful that everyone is so patient. So you heard it here and you heard it now Magnate is back on! Thanks everybody.

After months of me opening the Magnate project (and then closing it out of depression just from looking at the 5407 blocks of code and bugs) I’m here to announce that an update will hopefully be coming out soon in the next coming weeks!

After a little over one and a half years… I am here to announce Magnate..

UPDATE 2.0

After a pretty long while feeling demotivated to work on this game, I’ve finally done it and finished the second update for Magnate! Before I go into the MANY things I added this update I want to take some time to talk about the journey to get here!

and a bunch of hours of procrastination that pretty much sums up the almost 2-year span of updating this game.
So basically, a lot of teasers and a lot of procrastination :sweat_smile:
Anyways lets get into what was updated!


New Mechs

Lets just say I’ve added A LOT of new mechs to the game, and while I won’t go into every single one, I will highlight my favorites


Atomic Soul


This mech is probably my most favorite mech I’ve added this update not just because it’s pretty powerful but because I’d say it’s pretty well rounded. As a Mythic Mech it’s pretty strong but it comes with a pretty large price, I’d say it’s worth it though because it just shreds through enemies like nothing!

Dud Box


Yes you read that right, this mech is called Dud Box and while it may seem like just a tiny box with a gun attached to it, it’s far more complex than meets the eye! This mech is a legendary mech, so it’s pretty powerful, and overall just a funny mech to use!

Livley Shadow


This mech is pretty powerful as well, similar to Atomic Soul, and it’s the mech I’ve chosen to be on the new menu art for the game! I highly suggest this mech as your first mythic mech as it’s really fun to use!

Imperatoris


This mech is the most powerful mech(?) I’ve ever added to Magnate. The price on this mech is..fairly large to say the least, but you’re not meant to buy it but rather obtain it through other means…
This mech is an end game mech and it’s to be obtained at the end of the story of Magnate, but if you want to get it now with money feel free!


New Menu

A new update needs a new menu! And this new menu is a lot less cluttered and is easier on the eyes. So now I’ll give you a quick tour of it!


When hovering your cursor over these icons on the left, they list the attacks and abilities of your mech! Different attacks/abilities have different corresponding icons attached to them

Now instead of starting when you click B you need to hover over your selected mech and click B!

Finally these two arrows let you go to the next or the previous mech!

That wraps things up for Menu updates!


World 2

Yes it’s finally here after so long, after me mentioning it again and again! World 2!

This adds a few more challenging mechs to fight while going even deeper into the story of Magnate! I don’t want to spoil too much, but I will say Magnate is going in a direction a lot of you probably won’t expect! I would love to hear some theories about the story, or really any thoughts about it!


Final Notes

It’s been a long while of saying I’m going to update this game and never have, but I’m so glad we got here after basically two years! There are a lot of other changes I made that I don’t feel like announcing, and they are there for you to find! And not to worry because I will try to bring World 3, 4, and 5 all in the same year too, along with some other unfinished things as well. When I was a lot younger I never expected one of my games to end up on the front page of my favorite coding site and I’m glad you guys could help make that a reality. A big thanks to everyone who has been here from the start of when Magnate first released to people who are just discovering it!

This is really cool! I have one question though, how do you get out of the logs? Whenever i get in the logs, it locks me in there an i have to restart every time to get out of them.

Just a reminder to everybody, you can still submit your own mech to be added as long as you follow the original instructions in the first post!
Next I’ll be doing a small little poll so you can decide what mechs show up in Magnate next

There’s a bug where if you keep pressing A, it plays the log that many times, because the menu controls don’t disable for whatever reason. If you press A to go into a log and then press B while not pressing A again it should just play the entire thing once, which then after you return to the log menu. I’m trying to fix that right now and it’ll be fixed soon.
