Dud box ey? Hoping it doesn’t share the same fate as the weighted companion cube. (new fav little guy!)
oh yeah I’m back uhhhh… How is Magnate going? (obviously going great if we have the dud cube!)

Pretty good so far! I’m working on the 3rd update here and there, so until I find some good time to work on it it probably won’t release for a little.
Fantastic! I do have an observation and forgive me for sounding rude but I find it hard to follow along with the lore so far as the only lore I can obtain are in logs while easy to follow I have a curiosity with the worlds that we encounter for me its almost dissapointing we don’t get to explore the planets we go to however this opens up a theory of mine, while I think we are the mechs I have a suspicion that were actually controling the mech through a terminal as there’s no background or world story telling during the battles we encounter. So it is my theory that we the player are AI and are carrying out our objective given to us by… someone. who that someone is I dont know, after all I suck at turn based strategy games(I died a lot) so I didn’t get very far in the game.
I get what you’re saying and if I’m being honest the worlds were never really made to be explored lol, just like the Mech data tab they’re just a small little lore bit. Plus idk how’d you really explore something in a turn based game but if you have any ideas feel free to share!
Maybe I’ll make the worlds more immersive in the future…
As for the lore being a bit confusing, I never really like leaving the lore super easy to understand for most of my games, I really just like leaving some things up to interpretation for people! (Plus you might be able to connect more dots if you look at the Mech data tab, Just a suggestion though!)
Interesting theory too but of course I can’t confirm or deny it until later ![]()
Also I highly suggest playing randomizer or slay the spire as that gets you a lot of money in the early game to get some new mechs.
Other than that you’re feedback is much appreciated!
Well heres an Idea, for getting more lore nuggets you could use interactable battle grounds, this idea comes from pokemon were using specific moves with specific pokemon on specific battle grounds, for example say you have scyther and use the move fury cutter while battling with a forest background, a tree will fall over cut in halve giving you a chance of getting a leaf stone. so heres the idea, say you use the Dud Box while fighting praedator praestans, uses beam barrage and in the back ground a crate gets destroyed, by destroying that crate you get a unique item or lore nugget that would have taken ages to find. would that idea suite the game?
That’s actually a pretty good idea! Maybe I’ll add something like that in the future, but I’ll have to find a way to implement it with the battle system I have in place already (which isn’t pretty to say the least)
But overall nice idea I really like it ![]()
you could try this: set a background when in battle, check which enemy it is then check if a specific move was used, then change the background and then finaly set a variable to true that unlocks the object of choice! that should work hopefully.
idk why but there’s a glitch where when I reset the game it resets what mechs I have
I’ll fix that eventually
its only sometimes tho
ok so what is happening is you still can unlock it and use it if you don’t have enough money to buy it but if you have more money than is needed to unlock it even if you have before then it takes the money
Yea this bug has existed since I created Magnate but i was always too lazy to fix it, I have an idea on how to fix it though, so it should be fine.
