So, you know how Makecode decided to hold their own convention? Well that happened to be for teachers. Now I’m all for Makecode usage in school. But what if the community had one for themselves? I’m happy to announce my concept for the MCDC! The MCDC is mainly for the community here. Basically, MCDC is a convention to show off new games, specifically major projects that can take months, even years. (Think of Pixel Smash etc) Besides that, it’s a place to show off new techniques and learn from each other. I may not be here that often, but I still have passion for this! At my school, we even made a Esports league off Pixel Smash because the school hates Esports. This community has given so much to me, so what better way to pay it back?
You’ll be seeing a lot of me here.

This is a great idea! I’d like to announce a project and give some ideas for games:
Reload!
Reload is a game I’ve been working on for two months now, and I wanted to use this convention to reveal it and build up some hype. It should release pretty soon, and will quickly be followed by Voidrunner, but that’s a story for another day !
Reload is game where the core game mechanic is reloading. It’s a shooter, but not with raycasting. You use a cursor to aim. Reloading might not sound very exciting, but the thing is, you can modify your weapon for power and reliability, but you have to reload it manually! When you’re out of ammo (or press the reload button), a cursor appears (with modifiable speed) with which you must press buttons, reload cartridges and do all the other reloading stuff! That’s the hard part; there is a training area in which, after building your perfect gun (with parts you collected from missions), you can test it and practice its reload process before taking it to the battlefield.
Here are some pics of the Workshop, where you mod your weapons:
And that’s it for my presentation!
Here are some projects ideas which I won’t be using and are open to the public
Hyper-realistic Mario Bros!
This started as a joke with a friend but has become something interesting: the idea is, a Mario game with comical realism, with features like blinking, eating, paying taxes, etc. Might make for an interesting game!
Telekinesis Shooter!
This is something that I came up with in a car ride to school. Its a top-down shooter, with cursor control, in which you shoot zombies, purchase object and interact with your surrounding via telekinesis, with which you can throw object from the map at your enemies and such!
Jaw-Finder!
Some tricks I use in Makecode include using “shift+r” to replace colors, using the “bobbing up and down” animation block for title screens, and… that’s about it! I mostly use normal blocks, no funny business, and there’s nothing else I can really call a trick!
Well, that’s it for my yapping. Happy MCDC!
Feel free to attend the convention to present your games!
MCDC Dates are confirmed! June 21-23!
The 21st will be from 5PM EST to 7PM EST and is an opening. This opening will contain technologoical advancements and extensions
Then, the 22nd is the main event day. You want to book for then if you have Makecode AAA games. That term refers to AAA games IN THE MAKECODE SPHERE. This will be from 1PM - 5PM
Then, the 23rd is for smaller titles. These are for games that aren’t massive scoped and won’t raise too much hype. This is from 2PM - 4PM
Deeply sorry, but after struggling to find a resolution with the MakeCode team since this forum is controlled, the event is cancelled.
