Well we can’t insert files very easily on here. That’s the only problem we have. We want to upload trailers for a Makecode Direct is all. Somewhat related but I’ll say, one thing I have an issue with is when we try to look for solutions to problems like this and negotiate it always ends with “You either do it my way or my way but worse”…

does open forms mean like any Google forms or one where you can communicate back and forth, could you still post a form that’s like a questionnaire?

our goal is to keep this forum safe and in order to do that, we can’t be a place where people can send private messages or send links to other sites that allow private messaging. unfortunately, that means that sometimes cool projects can’t happen as a result, but we have rules, and that’s just the way it is. we’re a small team of moderators and we don’t have time to come up with a custom solution every time someone makes a request like this.

Okay just one more question when it comes to this, I want to make a team for a project outside of Makecode in the near future which would require us to share our accounts for that platform. Would there be another way of doing that outside of just sharing the accounts publicly or is that just not allowed?

In the past many people have shared their github accounts in order to work on a project together, would that still be allowed?
Another thing is that there have been some google forms on the forum before, they’re no longer allowed right?

yes, as joey mentioned, we used to allow forms but decided not to anymore.
and yeah, we let people share github accounts because it’s necessary for extensions and games shared from github. however, if we find people are using it as a way to workaround the messaging on other platforms rule, we’ll ban 'em

I was responding to a joke with a joke. But in reality, I am indeed allowed to post things that break the rules because that is necessary for running this forum and I’m on the MakeCode team. Still if one day I go power mad and start posting curse words and spam links left and right, I trust that @sarah or @jwunderl will take me down

For clarity sake, beyond for everyone’s safety, the rules exist so that we can maintain the forums without it becoming an undue burden on us / prevent us from doing our actual jobs of improving MakeCode as a whole. Please do not try and do gotcha’s or “waste disproportionate amount of staff time” by making us repeat rules or trying to get into extended discussions over things that will not change.
As an example, there are nearly 6000 users who have registered on this forum since this thread was made in 2020, and there have only ever been 53 messages here including this conversation, we do not have the time to go back and forth over every individual decision that is made.
