Not exactly. Doing that can make the sprite seem noisy and incoherent.

“Spamming colors” and “shading” are not the same thing. spamming colors means you are paying no attention to what your art is really going to look like. Shading is paying attention to each individual pixel to make shadows, highlights, and overall just make it look better. Also,
Most people could draw that in like 5 minutes.
