if i were to ask to make a game jam do i have to do anything, get any permission like that

If you hold a small competition, it wouldn’t have any specifications, but it wouldn’t be official.

Hmm…hosting a game jam doesn’t usually need authority (unless it’s one of the main ones that @/richard posts like that) Then you should be fine. Really you just need to make a post describing what your challenge is and wait for people to participate. If you are asking about making a game for a game jam then there is absolutely no need for authorization, just make a game and share it in the post. Hope this helps. (Also I’m not 100% sure on the rules of prizes if you are looking that way, but probably not allowed.)

People just start some and I don’t see it coming so I guess so.
I wouldn’t try to start one, people will forget about it.
(Also we have mini-game jams and MAJOR game jams… So that’s another reason.)
