It does both, since you’re part of the studio your game would be a game that the studio works on. I don’t know how many people will help though.
What is your game?

Youre right now I think its around umm
43? I think?
Working in small groups of 5-6, that’s a good idea.
I’m making mine solo so only I get the badge I mean so I can work more efficiently
It’s a dungeon crawler where you explore a procedurally generated dungeon and advance to deeper and deeper floors. I haven’t finished the combat system yet, but when I do, I’ll post a demo.
But I don’t really need people to work on the game itself, but feedback and little outside things would help a lot. One thing I need to know: Is there a create tilemap with (0)width and (0)height? I would really need this for my generator because it can generate many differently sized maps but right now it has to pick from pre-sized tilemaps and fill the rest with walls.
What would help my game a lot, and would be also very useful for the whole community would be a particle extension that I had planned, but I’ll need some help with it.
I started making it with block-objects but realised it would be much better to make it an extension
https://arcade.makecode.com/S77812-62168-59560-80490
now I decided to make it into an extension, but I have never made an extension or actually anything 100% in JS.
Here is what is planned to be in the extension:
all particles have these properties:
Has just one color
Has an image
Has an animation(image list) and a frame duration + values for correctly changing frames during lagspikes or skipframes
Goes through a gradient(for example white, yellow, orange, red) and accelerates upwards
Also has a spark boolean that adds four additional pixels around it that have the next color of the gradient
spawns particles
has properties:
x
y
square/circle
size(sidelength/radius)
spawn delay (because of how its coded it can spawn multiple particles per frame)
attached(sprite/tile)
lifetime min and max
velocity min and max for x and y
acceleration
+values for specific particle types(color, texture…)
not sure what to call them but they are used to influence already existing particles
direction, strength
x, y, relative(boolean)
turns each pixel of a texture or animated particle into its own simple particle
functions but on all existing particles at the same time
can be used for explosions
areas that do stuff to particles that are in them
they have properties:
dir, strength
+some way to make it stronger at the center than at the edges
particles that come from one side are teleported to the other
just a kill area
makes particles that are in it appear offseted, but its only visual, they actual coordinates arent influenced
you can give particles, spawners and function areas skipframes. If a particle has 2 skipframes, it will update once, then skip two frames, then update once, then skip one frame.
they will remember the accumulated deltatime so the physics stay the same
you can actually see them work in the block-object demo on the top
spawners out of screen wont spawn and all particles out of screen will get deleted. there will be a few pixels margin where they dont get deleted.
there kind of a create tilemap with (0) width and (0) height is, but it’s js only
It would be very nice if we could make this extension the project of the studio, but I’m not sure if others will agree.
Also, I heard that in Sword Studio they were doing something in GitHub so they can work on it at the same time, should we do that too?
Also, I started making a demo of the extension in JS. I might make a newer version before this gets approved.
There, I made one! (its under scene) That is the only purpose of it ![]()
You have no idea how much this helps me
I made an extension identical to this bro i only used it to create some demo tho
I had no idea, and I thought it would be easier to make my own rather than try to find an existing one.
I forgot to mention this but I have chosen a vice leader and leader.
The member that got the vice leader role is… @ScriptScraper
The member that got the leader role is… @Rune
I’m sorry everyone that didn’t get the roles, you can still get them by helping with… whatever we’re doing.
I didn’t share it on the forums or GitHub so it would be hard for you to find
What are we doing? I revived this for the sole reason of stimulating the chat
I may Design one on aesprite soon
Well… the Critter Jam is happening and most people are working on their own games for that so… nothing.
You could help @Soleb244 with his game:
If you want to, you could help me by drawing some enemies, I had a bit of trouble with that. Because of the story (the story is a bit complicated, but you don’t need to know it all), the enemies should be plants or fungi enchanted by black magic, but they dont have to. The enemies I currently planned are different types of moss creatures (I tried drawing them, but they all just looked like slimes), dark magic dead trees, and a dandelion (it should be quite small, and it shoots). But if you have any other ideas, that would help too! I thought about adding skeletons but it didn’t really fit.
The images should be between 10x10 - 60x60 (the screen size is 240 x 180), they need to use the default palette and look good on a greyish background (they will be in a dungeon made of "stone bricks")
Also here is the player for reference:
(without items)Nobody is forced to draw for me obviously, if you don’t want to, then don’t do it.
Also, the game is called Curse of Nythar. (It’s because of the story)
@CopySprite Are there any colors or themes you have in mind? I was thinking something like cursive or thread; I feel like space is elegant like that.
Also, I have a lot of stuff going on rn, so it might take me a while to get back around to this.
Ill join if I get a 401k Employee Retirement Benefit
I have a few unused theme ideas but I won’t say what they are.
I already started the Celestial collab which has a pretty cool angel and demon theme. (That should be our first project)
