could you be a little more detailed im guessing your using the fork i made to pxt color but i would like a more detailed explanation on the bug
I fixed it. I missed a color to add, and I had to add another 000000 to the top to fit for the trasnparency.
And also, @Sword_Studios, @VoxelMaster64 , @YamJam , or someone, do you guys want me to real quick add the intro to voxelâs version and then push it to github so we can code it easier?
Also, are we coding in blocks or JS/TS? I say JS/TS but itâs whatever you guys want, I just think it will be easier to maintain and organize.
I got it to work.
Sure!
You can code in JS/TS and someone else can convert to blocks, because the game is mostly blocks.
oh ok
Hey everyone! Iâm thinking about adding an MIT License to the game repository. The MIT License basically allows people to view, use, modify, and share the code as long as they keep the license notice.
Would everyone who has contributed to the game be okay with me adding it?
@Sword_Studios @YamJam @Air @Vital @LazerTag2 and anyone else who has contributed, please let me know.
Sure!
Hey @Vital and @Air , in the Github page for it right now, I have this for the about section:
100 years after the legendary hero Samknight saved the world, the Dark Lordâs son, Malice, has conquered the land.
You play as Squishy, one of the kingdomâs strongest warriors, sent on a mission to defeat Malice and restore peace. Alongside your companion Ockey, youâll explore caves, villages, forests, and dangerous dungeons while collecting equipment, upgrading abilities, and battling powerful enemies.
Once you get the lore done, just tell me a little about the lore for the game so I can put it in the Github about section.
i would prefer blocks as i am not very good at makecode ts but i am making art so idc
could you elaborate please, like just people on the forums, or anyone who has the games link? what if they break the licence agreement??? i dont get itâŚ
Hey guys, when one of you guys get a chance, can you check the code for the project, because it seems that the project wonât start the game in that one cutscene. Thanks!
The MIT License would apply to anyone who gets access to the source code, not just people on the forums. Basically, if someone can see or download the GitHub repository, they can use the code under the rules of the license.
The MIT License is very permissive. It lets people:
view the code
modify it
use parts of it in their own projects
share it
The main requirement is that they keep the copyright/license notice. They also canât claim that they made the original code or remove the license and pretend itâs theirs.
If someone breaks the license agreement (for example, removes the license notice or violates the terms), they are no longer following the permission that the MIT License gives them. The license doesnât automatically stop people from doing things, but it means they are using the code outside the allowed terms.
Also, the MIT License only covers the things we actually own and put under the license. It doesnât automatically give permission to use other peopleâs music, art, sprites, or assets that have different licenses.
So for Squishia, the question is basically: do we want to allow people to reuse and learn from our code, or do we want to keep the source code more restricted?
For a MakeCode Arcade game, the MIT License decision is mostly about the code, not the whole game. If Squishia has custom art, music, characters, story, etc., we may want a separate statement like:
Code: MIT License
Artwork, Music, Story, and Assets: All Rights Reserved unless otherwise stated
That prevents someone from thinking the MIT License lets them take the entire game and reupload it.
