The MakeCode Forums 3: The Multiversal Convergence

This is it people… the grand finale to the The MakeCode Forums series! What a journey it’s been…

Join scamma as he seeks to find resemblance among all universes, facing challenging foes along the way, making a few more friends, and, preparing for an unknown silent threat, lurking in the corner of the multiverse…

This game is the culmination of over 700+ hours (1 month and 16 days) of hard work! I’m super excited to be releasing this, as it’s EASILY the biggest thing I’ve ever made, inside and outside of MakeCode. Just for statistics, this game is about 300+ iPad crashes (yes, 300+ (yes, built entirely on an iPad!)), with probably 7000+ blocks of code with all universes combined!

Not much to say here, just that I want to give a MASSIVE, MASSIVE thanks to my two co-workers, @Luke and @InvalidProject! If it weren’t for their equal motivation, dedication and commitment to this game, it wouldn’t be CLOSE to as big of a success as it is and has become! Give them a HUGE shoutout!!! And check out Hebes and Card Delver for when they release!

This game has changed me quite a lot. This is the closest I’ve ever been to becoming a real game developer, making 1 hour+ games with lore, teammates, everything! I’ve never been happier! This feels like something I will do when I grow up, I’m certain of it!

With all that, I want to thank everyone. Everyone who sees this, comments on this, watches a stream of this! God bless all of you!

WOW! This is huge. Just wondering is there anything you want Channel 0 to say when we discuss this?

Such a unique and novel concept, I think it fits perfectly with the game! The story is also magnificent the cutscenes are so great as the sideplot. Finally, thanks for letting me make some art for the game, it was really fun to try an unfamilar resolution (255x255) and a different palette to what i usually use. (behind the scenes art coming soon)

Oh yeah, I’ve been reported on that. I think it happens when you rush through the text? Or does it just randomly blow up your computer lol? Well… if it’s the first, I suggest you just leave the text to run after you press Equipment.

Hmmmmmmm… say that I couldn’t have made something this big without everyone’s support! If the hype hadn’t been so massive, I wouldn’t have been as inspired to make this game! So um, yeah! Thanks you guys!

For everyone who’s finished the game, I wonder if you can beat my speedrun time of 42 minutes… you can skip the optional cutscenes too, and in the first TMF game you can jump straight into the Chatting Area to move on to The Hiker of Mt. Terra.

In other words, I specifically devised a speedrunning route lol

Oh yes, I almost forgot!

NO SPOILERS PLEASE!!!

I want to see @richard and the others reaction lol, so if you talk about stuff that happens after The Natural Ruins, you’ll be spoiling them!!!

Absolutely adored the game as whole! Luke’s art was astonishing, and…not to self-glaze, but I feel really proud of my hand in the music making! The story-telling is a masterpiece! Keep up the good work, @ChimbroDaPro

I nominate @ChimbroDaPro as MakeCode’s best storyteller!
Like how Luke is best artist and InvalidProject is best music maker.

Oh my  that’s super kind of you to say!

I suppose lore-wise these things take many days, but best makecode storyteller… wow lol

Ig that would mean that the best makecoders of the three pillars of game development came together to make this game: art, music, and lore/gameplay (ok maybe the gameplay isn’t perfect…)

But not to forget the glue that pretty much binded this game together! Im talking about @AlexK who provided the information on how to transfer assets to each other, and @Octodemon who helped provide many many alternatives for transferring assets, which, in fact, some were used!

So thanks to them as well, and everyone else in the credits helped hype the game up, along with keep me laughing during the creation process!!!

Yo, if anyone wants to, they can make their own Hiker of Mt. Terra levels and post them here! Once you get used to it’s gameplay, the one level feels really short lol

As for the original, the current record is 38.63 seconds which I HIGHLY DOUBT anyone can beat >:D Good luck if you wanna give it a shot
