wrong - pixel art is about limitations, with size and with colour. Pixel art has limited palettes and limited resolutions.

Increase the resolution and you get crunchy, posterised digital art.

Some pixel art pieces have huge resolutions which can be comparable to digital art. For many they’d be better off doing normal high spec digital art, as at this resolution many mimic regular digital art with thicker pixel brush sizes and little to no fine pixel detailling, already pretty much there. Masters of high res pixel art like gawrone and ventique spend months and months on singular pieces because of how much space you need to fill and detail on the pixel level.

Increase the palette size and you get a blurry jpeg.

Some pixel art does use blurring and fancy tools/brushes which increases palette size, but most pixel art tends to keep to a specified palette to retain the clarity and importance of each individual pixel.

Increase both and you get regular digital art

Pixel art is digital art on the smallest scale, down to the smallest element of an image, a pixel, which it focuses it’s importance on. yes ik subpixels exist but shh)

pixel art is more of a subsection of the larger set of digital art (which can also be referred to as high spec in comparison to pixel art)

So back when I made this topic I was just getting into pixilart as a goal to become good at the art itself. So when I posted this I was i guess looking for a shortcut to having that. This was 100% Fake I don’t know how I thought anybody was going to beleive this. (Sorry @Luke) so it’s a little awkward seeing how I was defending this picture and everything. So I want to apologize to everyone just because yeah. But that doesn’t mean I have absolutly no pixel art practice now- I’m still working on some projects today. Here are some of my most recent works:

I post on a pixel art site a lot so thats why some of them have a waterwark on them.

nice! i highly recommend using a smaller resolution, when i was starting out i liked to view larger resolutions and palettes as difficulty tiers, getting more and more difficult the larger the canvas was or the more colours i had to work with. your art is good but is more akin to high res digital art rather than pixels. with smaller resolutions you can also polish every single individual pixel that you place
