Help with getting better at pixal art and color pallets

ok the only few reasons why Iโ€™m making this topic is I saw the new post @JtSpeedRun did on the Saturn game topic thing and I was just like this dude is good at pixal art and I just want to get as good at him so if anyone could send like tips and tutorials or anything I would appreciate it

I have a few sites that help me with art and palettes:

  1. https://www.slynyrd.com/pixelblog-catalogue

This site has lots of (higher resolution) pixel art tutorials that I use now and then.

  1. https://saint11.art/blog/pixel-art-tutorials/

This is a lower resolution site with tons of useful tutorials.

  1. https://lospec.com/palette-list

This is a site that has tons of palettes, odds are you can find a palette that suits your needs.

Improvement is a slow and often uneven process, you just always gotta recognise your own progress even if it feels like you are still stuck. I would highly recommend using Saint11โ€™s tutorials, they helped me a lot starting out. My list of resources can be found here: Lukeโ€™s Pixel Art Essentials! :hammer_and_wrench:

One major thing is that if you ever need to draw something unfamiliar, just take a few secs to google and pull up a reference (we know what something is, but we rarely remember every detail that makes it feel real)

Finally, here are some graphs that I love a lot and help me thru lows

The dithering seems too different cause the color are very different shades so that could be an issue

Looks great! Love the colours. Something worth considering is the use of linework

in small resolutions, there isnt many pixels to work with. This means that simply outlining everything can result in a lot of the total area of the sprite being linework (this can make it harder to read from afar and also reduce the space for character details)

Outlines are very important tho, especially when there isnโ€™t much to play with. I strike a balance between shaded/broken and more defined linework.

For interior transitions (like with the bottom of the face and the body) I usually donโ€™t outline because it gives me more room for the body and face.
The interior lines are also a good place to have anti aliasing as if you do aa on the outer parts it may not look right with different backgrounds.
