What kind of weapons for games are allowed in makecode?

yeah um i have a question, what kind of weapons are allowed on Makecode?

Like what about like knifes, or at least a knife effect of something like Fruit Ninja.

What about guns? I think Ive seen someone make Doom on the forums, and I know it can’t be very graphic, but whats the rule on guns for games for the Makecode Forums? No guns? or maybe alternatives guns that are not like IRL like laser guns, or water guns?

if weapons aren’t allowed (or some aren’t allowed) just tell me either @richard or @jwunderl , and if its not allowed i totally get it

I pretty sure anything is fine to put in the game to put it on the fourms I’d say just cant be to graphical but its pixel so don’t know if that’s even possible

the rule is no excessive violence, but it’s all a little wishy-washy. we have no hard and fast rules but it’s pretty obvious when a game breaks the rules.

for example, if it’s a zelda like game where you pick up a knife or a gun that’s totally fine!

if it’s a game where you use a knife to torture someone, well yeah that’s not cool.

wait what about like the minecraft style torture where you have the option to like cause a entity/mob/whatever you call it harm/torture or again whatever you call

what if its a cartoony sort of gun like in tom and jerry sort of stuff, is that ok? Without any real blood and tramatizing stuff?

I actually made a game like that its really gory I like it but I’m not posting it

also what about this @richard I made a game (have not showed it on the fourms yet) but its like a really dumb down version of chatgpt and there’s a array of real swear words so when you type them they become ###### so is that allowed also don’t these rules only apply to if there on the fourms like you are allowed to put whatever you want in a game as long as its not on the fourms

all these examples are fine, but i would avoid the word torture even in the minecraft sense.

@NeverStopTheCoder i’m afraid the swear words are a no-go except for the PG ones (damn, hell, etc.)

who says those are pg?

@richard you mention no torture or excessive violence, but would these be allowed if there was a sort of content warning, Like the rating system that there was a topic on a few years back?

i’m not going to lay out a detailed policy on what is and isn’t appropriate. at the end of the day, it’s up to whichever moderator chooses to approve or deny the post (regardless of content warning).

it’s sort of an “i know it when i see it but can’t describe it” dealio

ask yourself would you let your kid play it (if you dont have one imagine you do)

what if you add someone getting tortured in the LORE

oh my games have tons of hidden stuff in the lore as long as the mods cant find the specific reference they have no clue trust there’s just off screen murder lol
