since your game encourages exploration a lot what if you can make the pages do something like a 1up and add like I would say 7 power ups or more that all work usefully like a double jump power up or and airdash, and maybe some alterative pathways for some nice secrets and goodies to increase reliability and add level gimmicks and bonus stages but hey just get creative and make the game quality and replayable
Power Ups are planned, I’ve mentioned this in an earlier post. I’m going to make it so that if you collect all the pages in a world, you unlock that world’s boss, and if you defeat that boss, you unlock a new spryte. As for level gimmicks, I don’t know how I’m going to go about that, I’ll try to figure something out.

What powerups are going to be in the next update?
How did you come up with the idea for Project hoplings? Do you have a planned storyline and lore already?
They might come later down the line, there isn’t a 100% chance that they’ll show up in this update. That being said, I plan on adding a magnet powerup that lets you climb walls and flip gravity, a fire themed powerup, and probably a lot more. I don’t really have a plan for the sprytes yet.
I’ve had the idea on paper since middle school (I’m a high school sophomore), literally. I’ve made countless drawings of these little guys. I’ve been waiting for the longest time to make a game out of it, and now with this super simple and easy to understand engine, the opportunity has just fallen into my hands. As for the storyline, the Hoplings live in this story book, and someone (who I haven’t decided on yet) realized that the characters in the book are not only alive but extremely powerful, took the book from it’s lectern and ripped all the pages out, scattering them across the world it resides in. So now, because all the others were too scared and confused to do anything, it’s up to Ryan to collect all the pages and put them back in the frame of the book, restoring it to its original state and allowing him and the others to finally go home.
