It’s the first Monday of the month, which means it’s time to start another Mini Game Jam!
Y’know, some of my favorite games posted to this forum are the ones people make about their pets. We here at the MakeCode team are big fans of pets; in fact we even have an entire channel in our team chat dedicated to pictures of our various animals. Off the top of my head, I can count at least 11 cats, 5 dogs, and 1 canary associated with the MakeCode team.
This month, in honor of our many animal friends, the theme for our mini game jam is Pets!
You can interpret that theme any way you like, but it should be obvious how your game relates to the theme without any extra explanation (except perhaps a short bio of your pet )
Rules
Games should be built in MakeCode Arcade
Games should clearly adhere to the theme without the need for any extra explanation
Keep the games PG: no NSFW, offensive, or excessively violent content.
You must be at least 9 years old to participate.
All games must be submitted by someone who is at least 13 years old. Younger students are welcome to participate, but it must be in partnership with an adult and with parent permission.
You have two weeks to enter! The jam will close at 11:59 PM PDT on Monday, June 19th 2023
Oh heck yeah. I’ve got an amazing idea for this one that I’ve been saving for a while. I’m honestly unsure if it… counts as a game? Idk. You will see once I make it, but it might not even qualify to be part of the jam- either way its a good excuse to code XD
as well as i can…
The story extensions will be good for this
as well as saving games
I may need a bit of help with that though because I have tried many times and failed.
Update!! So the project kind of… went wrong XD
For part of it i needed the microbit to send signals to my meowbit through some wires I connected, but it suddenly stopped working. I supposed the batteries died as the screen for the microbit was flickering, so I replaced them, but the screen kept flickering… I went to go try and push the battery in farther and BOOM!! A big electric shock hit my finger, and i threw the microbit back… I think it must’ve discharged a bunch of electricity into my finger because the microbit seems broken now and my finger was pretty burnt : (
But that is just the risk with electronics, hah! I have other ways to complete my game, but it might result in a drop in graphics- I will not give up though!
I wish I had more pets than just one fish but with all this irl stuff going on it would be hard to even take care of any pet bigger than a fish
Also here’s a forum link to the game post I’m so proud of this game spent most of last summer working on it.
