Arcade Presentation

Hello,

I wanted to share my success story with the games my students made in class. We put together an arcade to showcase the games and all the skills involved in creating video games. My focus was on art, problem solving and creative writing.

Below is how we setup our arcade in the library to demonstrate the art involved in making their games. We shared this with the other classes in the school.

Here are the booklets we created to explain the story of their game along with some tips.

The final pictures are of game cartridges made with a 3D printer so students can take home a physical copy of their game. On the back is a QR code which directs them to the game printed.

This is my 3 third year doing this project with my grade 5 students, and we have a blast every time. There are so many different skills and outcomes involved that I always look forward to it and find myself improving each time. I highly recommend everyone out there to try and start up an arcade because the students love it.

The Game Boy manuals and the cartridges bring me back to my childhood and this would have blown my mind in 5th grade. I am sure this gave some insights on how much work it take to create a video game. Such a cool project!
