I wanna know ur opinion on the statement going round recently that the Forum is dying. I wanna see ur perspectives, and hopefully catch up on stuff I missed.
I have several theories on why people feel like the forum is dying (i dont really think it is)
- Firstly, the forums has grown a lot, so there are a lot more people coding. Naturally this means that there is a smaller percentage of people who actually make more polished games leading to the feeling of the forums “dying” as there are more beginner/intermediate coders posting their projects.
- Covid was important - with everyone stuck at home this meant that more time could be spent coding and making games. People are just spending more time irl than being on makecode.
- Culturally, theres been a shift, being creative has always been an uphill battle but with the rise of AI theres a lot more anxiety and unwillingness to spend effort to create.
- People come and go, so the forums is just just changing and feeling like we are “dying” beause a lot of peeps who were important figures in the community are a lot less active. It comes with growing up and getting super busy. Just have to recognise the amazing new coders who have joined
There are like a million existing threads on this already, go here if you want to read people’s options on this: The forum is dying, why?
The mods locked this topic for a reason, stop posting about it.
I Joined in somewhat of 2022, but really started posting in 2024/2025. I honestly love the idea of Makecode, A Scratch like engine but limits your options so its not like the “trash” of just gifs and music. I noticed ever so slowly that I’m starting to get less replies, Im worried. The Reddit Subreddit has been past dead and the forum may become the same.
Surprised this even got aproved, lol
Honestly, can we not? I think there’s a better, more current way to say the forums are “dying”. Its more so changing (which is natural), and it’s up to each user to decide on whether it’s positive or not.
I don’t think it’s dying.
It’s always been unpopular, but that doesn’t mean it’s dead.
People come and go, and as far as I know the activity has only gone up.
