Lately, MakeCode has been taking a really long time to load, even if it’s just loading the homescreen. Waiting for 5 minutes to get to the homescreen is getting really annoying.

Yes I have this problem TOO MUCH. Like not even just my game, just the homepage takes years to load, even on my laptop. Just make an app for mobile please

Yeah I will admit i’ve been meaning to talk about that. Recently Makecode has been taking a little longer than usual to load. It’s been like this on both my phone and computer but i’m pretty sure its been longer on my phone. Wasn’t sure if it was just me and my browsers but i guess it might be something else.

i also have this problem. The reason might be the sheer amount of projects I have or makecode is bugging out and is giving me the “your project was edited in two different places” message when i havent even OPENED the project on a different computer or tab

I think the loading problem depends on the power of your device and the strength of your wifi so… Sometimes I get this problem.

I have, but maybe its because I’m on a Chromebook. But then again, I can run Minecraft on this Chromebook smoother than makecode, soooo

@Tasty_turnip2, are you signed into MakeCode when this happens? If so, do you have a lot of projects in your project list? I’m wondering if it might be the initial cloud sync. Also: Is load performance consistently bad, or intermittent?

Hi everyone! If the MakeCode homepage takes a long time to load for you and you’re able to open your browser’s Dev Tools (some schools block this), here’s something you can try:
- Open the Dev Tools window.
- Reload the MakeCode homepage.
- Click the Network tab and sort by Time (descending).
- Look at the top of the list — that’s the request that took the longest, potentially blocking page render.
When I do this, the longest request is /api/user/project. That’s the initial cloud sync. It took about 1.82 seconds for me, and I have around 100 projects. (It doesn’t sync all of them, just checks if any need updates.)
I’d love to know if this request (or any other one) is taking a really long time for you. You’ll only see /api/user/project if you’re signed in, but even if you’re not, let us know which request is slowest for you, and how long it took.

I have also been experiencing this bug a lot. I think they have fixed it now, though.
It was persistent, but it has stopped happening now.
for me it takes miliseconds
