As you may not actually know because i haven’t said anything, i’m competing in the official Makecode Arcade Game Jam, themed around sports! This is going to be my devlog topic, much like the one i did for my previous gamejam entry.
Today, i bring you all a little Engine Demo for how my game will play. Feedback is appreciated as i’m trying to get the movement out of the way to free up time for level design.
Without further ado, here is: SUPER SOCCER FROG - Engine demo 1
I hope the controls are intuitive. The full release will have an in-game tutorial. I’m hoping to make the game small enough to play on hardware!
Jokes aside, this is a great concept. It adds some clever movement aspects to the basic platformer formula. I think holding up to shoot it upwards and then pressing space to go after it was a little hard, perhaps make up-kick B? Can’t wait to see the a finished version, and may the best game win!
This looks great! I like the stars system. Turns out you are ahead of me now, because I’m forced to pivot. You can check out my progress on my logs topic.

Id love to see the progress of this game and i bet it might make it into gam jam honours i wouldent be suprised if it was. Also you might need to add a tutorial so the player knows how he or she can play. To do that i think you should have a function where when the game starts (when the playing starts) just have a little button saying tutorial then the player either answers yes or no. If no is answered just keep the gameplay how it is. And if yes is selected just give them a run down. For that you could just use pictures to show what you should do.
