@SPerkins25, I saw something on the boss fight that i have now noticed. There are blocks on the ground different from others in the boss fight. Is there a second way to clear the level and beat the game?

You do know what Metroidvania is, right? Metroidvania is a genre of video games where you are required to explore around a vast map and find items and collectables that will allow you to progress to the next level. Metroidvania does not mean it will look like Hollow Knight or Metroid in terms of vibes or art style. Metroidvania is simply a term for a genre.
