I may come back to it…
I need something to do when I’m not paying attention to class…

I might change a bit of the lore…

I haven’t finished playing it, or reading it, but its so dope! I’d love to work with you to make it deeper. I definitely have some notes. All in all, this is even closer to the vibe of game I want it to be! How far can I go in the game right now?

im so glad you like it! i would love to collab! i dont really know what you mean by how far you can go but if you mean is the game completed yeah ive finished like the ending and all that!

Oh cool! I guess I’ll have to beat it. (I did mean how far into the game can the player make it, like is there going to be more after the current end)

About the collab though, I kinda wanna make a fully fleshed out story that you play though. Like not just a level with bits of text, but like a map to explore and maybe 2 hours of gameplay on a single run. maybe like a metriodvania. I also think if it more like a cyber survival horror would be awesome. So we get tools to deter the scarlets. But of course we would have to agree on it  . Personally, I feel stronger in programing, logic, and world building. What about you?

im also pretty good at programming but im also really good at thinking up lore! once you finish the game, (or now if uw) i can explain the lore to you? we can certainly make the map larger and have tools to deter the scarlets!

Well, firstly, I’m going to spend some time brainstorming gameplay and story ideas, then I’ll post the ideas later. You can do the same if you want.

Ok how ‘bout this,

You play as an exterminator who is given the strangest job. They are hired to debug [insert company name here]’s servers. They vaguely explain “or programers cant figure it out so that thought to upload an exterminator into the server to literally debug.” This is obviously a weird thing to say because debugging has nothing to do with actual bugs, but he goes along with it anyway. [Company] hooks him up to there server and transfers him into the Virtual Environment via VR of some kind. seems totally normal for the first few minutes as the other people in the VE do a little bit of showing you around as they lead you to the issue area. You’re left alone to dive into the unfinished portion of the VE. and it obviously goes down hill from there.

Maybe the game starts at the short tour of the VE, and [company] is hiding something.

Gameplay wise, your goal is to survive. There could be an escape ending and a fully debugged ending. Use some kind of weapon provide to you to fend of the bugs and hopefully find how to truly crush them. The whole time the player should feel like a bug can find them and they should feel almost helpless. Might be fun to let the players set traps and lure the bugs as a kill option. There should definitely be a few different bugs. Maybe scarlets are the base that can just be shot dead, while the other ones are like bosses?

What ideas to you have?

k wait i read thru ur stuff this is supposed to be a horror game no? i mean if there were easy ways to defeat the enemies its no longer scary. i feel they can be deterred and hidden from but idt we should be able to kill them.

my lore is that there was once a company, aether motive, specialising in micromouse competitions in the 1990s. the software was way too fast for the hardware to handle so they moved the software into a digital infrastructure. however, they soon went bankrupt and got liquidated. they shut down all their servers but one, hoping it would carry on their legacy. however, the ai (the scarlets) evolved. since there was no longer an exit for them to find, they locked on and slammed into everything and everyone at light speed. the result of this collision will vaporise the victim. the player plays as a dude taking on a flat rate job to clean out the old server. in the end, because dashing allows you to move as fast as the scarlets, the system confused you for a scarlet and saved you as one. the player loses all control and is forced to watch itself zoom around the maze at light speed. what do you think about this?
