"Game had a conflict" error happening very frequently

Lately, I have persistently been getting the error where the game is saved differently in different places. It will prevent me from doing any work on my game, and it won’t save the game_name-copy version that it brings me to, even if I edit it. Am I doing something wrong or is this a MakeCode issue?

You are probably editing the game in two places at once… Maybe a school and home laptop?

check all windows there might be a second tab for it

I have seen this as well. Or I’ll load a game and all my overlaps have disappeared, or changed to tiles that are assets in other games I’ve made. Can be very frustrating. Happens when I switch between games. Or when I switch to a different computer even though I saved and closed on the other computer. I have started emailing myself copies that I know aren’t broken. It works as a quick fix.

@Tasty_turnip2 that has also happened to me a lot of times even if it’s the only tab I have open and I never open my projects in school. Maybe it’s because Makecode made an update and is working on fixing bugs.

or just two tabs or windows

Responding to comments:
It is not open anywhere else (that I know of)
It is one of two tabs, the other being Google Sheets.

Here is a picture of the error

@Tasty_turnip2 are you ever editing this project while offline (e.g. not connected to wi-fi)?

and i assume you’re using more than one computer even if it’s not at the same time?

This is happening to my son a lot. He works on a single laptop in a single browser window, so no possibility of working in two places that I can see.

It is really infuriating and is gradually putting him off using Makecode, as he’s worried his work will all go missing. I have to periodically save out to an image and keep copies of these so we can restore if it goes wrong.

This has been happening for several weeks now. It had never happened to us in the past, so feels like something has changed fairly recently to cause this.

We are using Edge browser. We are very careful to save and close the browser these days just in case it was something to do with having a previous session open.

Every time we open the browser back up we have to sign back into his Microsoft account, so pretty sure we’re starting a new session each time.

If we can do anything to help you narrow down the cause please let us know. It is very repeatable (fellow software engineer here).

I don’t think I’ve been offline while editing, but the frequency of this issue makes it very unlikely that I was offline every time.
I mostly open the project on one computer, and rarely on another. I have checked many times, and it isn’t open on the computer that I open it on rarely.

This is now happening every time I do anything to the game. I can’t develop it at all because of this issue.

I’ve also noticed that sometimes Makecode just won’t save my game to the cloud. What I’m thinking is that sometimes when that happens, it will cause this “game had a conflict” thing.

I have this problem too right now with my game its delaying everything for it, it just sucks to have it

Adding a comment to revive this. Still experiencing it. (although not as often) I am connected to the internet, and I am definitely not editing it in two places at once. I will be editing the game, and suddenly this will happen.

I had this issue a bit recently, along with a whole slew of other miscellaneous bugs.
