I got logged out of my makecode account and thought that It was weird, so I logged back in and I lost absolutely all of my projects within 7 months. I now cant update any of my games with the original share link, and I lost all of my side projects that I didn’t post on the forums.
Honestly, I doubt you guys have any power to recover 7 months of lost work. But anything would be appreciated. Because when my projects would automatically save, the cloud icon would appear.
I do, but I don’t do it for all of my projects, mostly the main ones, and plus I lost the original share link projects, meaning I cant update any existing links anymore, nor can I edit any of my topics due to my low trust level on the forums
i also lost all of my code due to a stupid ai chatbot update for debugging.
But i managed to get it all back by getting the project URL, going to “Import” and creating to so that it would create a new copy of the game with the code reinstalled and everything back in place. But its probably different for you
hopefully this helps. And hopefully someone from the makecode team like @richard or someone else that i forget who helped me once before but is also a dev member from makecode arcade
before you logged in, were the projects there? (/ if you log out do the projects return?)
check what grizzly mentioned, it’s a good point – e.g. if you click “continue with microsoft” it’s possible to sign in with a gmail account-linked account (e.g. my personal account i used for xbox is like that, says i’m signing in at name@gmail.com but it’s technically a microsoft account) - so if you’re using gmail check both “Continue with Microsoft” and “Continue with Google”
(this makes me think maybe we should locally cache and have a ‘you signed in with this last’ flag next to whichever account type was used last, but i’m not 100% sure on branding rules for log in screens since some providers get angry with things / have to check)
It was the microsoft thing, I logged in with Google by accident instead of Microsoft, which contained all of my original projects. I’m very sorry about that.
Very happy to hear it then, I’ll check with our team later / maybe next update we’ll have an indicator for this sort of thing. Thanks for letting us know!
