Any chance the offline version can get an update or we can see a timeline for those releases?
Due to the auto-update behind the scenes, none of my current proto-starter-projects can be used by kiddos on offline machines
Current offline Makecode is stuck at Arcade 2.0.56 and Makecode 11.3.59
…. and online version which is now Arcade 4.0.10 and Makecode 12.2.30
those are some BIG gaps to fill.
Or…. could we add a web interface “button” to temporarily turn off auto-updates to the newest code base?… just until we have a chance to download the .uf2 file for older offline machines.

We have a quick patch fix for being finished up for online app, and then once that is finished will be releasing the new offline app versions (already tested / fixed a few bugs from a test build).
If you’re stuck right now you can use arcade.makecode.com/v2.0 until offline app is finished up and deployed.
(we typically wait for a week or two before updating offline app post major releases, because some users will be on devices with limited bandwidth / have to deal with manual deployments – where online app we can continuously fix bugs or address last minute quality of life needs, can be harder in that scenario)

(as another update we’ve got the version built for new hotfix, so I kicked off builds for offline app versions; should be available soon™️)

Awesome, thank you…. We have gotten quite far with v2…. But lately have run into some blocks that can’t be updated even if I fudge the policy and take the offline laptops home to use a usb-to-ethernet dongle to get them online for extension updates….. then bring them back to school.
Inventory and some other things I have been seed-building just don’t work.
Was worried I’d have to go back to lessons with phaser, quintus, P5, or Pico-8
Implementing a new weekely download and archive policy with version numbering ….. Makecode version included in file name.
Ideally we’ll be releasing it tomorrow but here’s a link directly to the build i produced https://arcade.makecode.com/offline-app?v=v4.0.11 (v4.0.11 to the particular ones) – if we find a bug or something might need to make a 4.0.12, but this’ll be close
(edit: we deployed it earlier today so should auto update / etc)
