Everytime I try to make a game, I want to actually make something enjoyable for everyone, I never want to do spam projects, I just try my best to stay on topic but let’s be honest, not everybody stays on task, especially teenagers. (me and a bunch of other users are teenagers.)
this is why we need a follow button so people like you could be like "I only want to see games by X and all the big projects there working on and not just random spam topics pinging you all the time
Exactly! I’m not even going to lie to you, you can literally check all my posts, but I feel the whole “forum is dying” situation is a bit of an overreaction. I mean, sure, stuff obviously still needs to change, especially with the random off-topic stuff, but this is still the best coding community I’ve ever seen, so, honestly I don’t know why we’re freaking out about this.
LMAO?!!?!?!?
(this is accurate )
Even though I’m a new user, I noticed that most people give up after a while. And some have faced the challenge of making a game, especially a big one, and optimizing it through Make Code Arcade. Strangely enough, I gave up on most of my big game ideas for this reason. Unfortunately, there are many reasons why forums are dying. That’s all from me for now, I don’t know if anyone has time to read this.
XD That’s considered short for this topic!
yes its very short
welcome, welcome to the forums!
Have fun out here! @some_user
welcome to community @some_user
I’m not the only one experiencing this, am I? ‘‘The engine is not optimized at its best, so doing large projects becomes no fun after a while (because the entire workspace slows down, becomes unusable after a few hundred blocks)’’
When you have over a few hundred lines of code (switch to JS/Python mode to see), the engine’s fps will obviously be absurdly low. No one likes this. Although, really, it doesn’t stop a lot of people from making the big games that gain lots of views. Usually when you are forced to deal with lag, you should have to optimize the code (or just switch to JS or Python mode to HEAVILLY decrease lag) yourself to improve the Workspeed, instead of relying on the engine to baby you with the speed.
Well more like after 2000-3000
the forums are kinda improving guys
Thankfully yes
Wohooo!! Celebrtating time!
YES
I’ve noticed that makecode has less people than scratch due to the fact that most textbooks teach students more about scratch than makecode.
textbooks promote makecode microbit at standard 6 like they say its harder or something but you might be wondering, what does this have to do with the forums well the only way to discover the forums is ur fwens tell you about it or you find it out online in the makecode yt channel or the most unlikely one and the one where i found out about this was the share button where there is a forums option
I never read the whole thing just half but tldr, are you saying that new users are ruining stuff? I’ve only been on this forum for a few days, and you seem to complain about new users being off-topic which can be seen as subjective. I’ve seen the quotes about people are tired of the off-topic stuff, but it kind of diminishes the point of the show & tell category, and the rules never said anything about “if you’re being off-topic, you get a warning” or something like that. And it doesn’t make any sense when you said
" I suppose we continue to create great stuff, no matter what kind of off-topic posts anyone makes" you could’ve been doing that the whole time. Additionally, this post is OFF-TOPIC. This is the help section. NOT show & tell or whatever category this fits in. So, what you’re saying doesn’t make any sense. Just because I’m new doesn’t mean that I’m off-topic, in fact, everyone can be off topic, and it doesn’t matter if they’re new or not. I don’t understand what you mean.
doesn’t that mean that you’re not as experienced with this? Taser has been around for 3 years now
the point of the show and tell category is to show off makecode projects not to chat about random stuff (thats why we have the weekly and chatting topics!)
says it right here: Makecode forum code of conduct
also you shouldn’t need a warning to respect basic rules
Ultimately, taser was just tryna say how there are a lot of newer users SOME who post a lot of off-topic things and that has led to some decline in forum quality, not that every new member is immediately off topic.
